  15. 1.  The purpose of the IGA_Net<tm> IGA_SYSOP_UK Conference is to 
  16. provide a forum for IGA_Net<tm> SYSOPs in the United Kingdom to
  17. communicate with each other. The ZC of IGA_Net<tm> will also
  18. utilize this conference to communicate with SYSOPs in the United
  19. Kingdom.  SYSOPs in other parts of the world may read the 
  20. communications in this conference, but they are strongly dissuaded 
  21. from originating messages therein.

  23. 2.  Messages in this echo must conform with the current rules in place
  24. for IGA_Net<tm>.  Please note that any message which is lawful,
  25. friendly, and related to genealogy is not likely to fall afoul of any
  26. IGA_Net<tm> rule.

  28. 3.  Personal attacks or "flames" are prohibited as is offensive language.
  29.  
  30. 4.  Please leave the moderating to the moderator.

  32. 5.  Since names are the heart and soul of genealogy, aliases are
  33. extremely discouraged.  If, due to BBS software limitations, an alias
  34. is used in the message header, the real name MUST be signed in the body
  35. of the message.

  37. 6.  Illegal information or activities are not permitted.
  38.  
  39. 7.  The use of taglines is strongly dissuaded. In the event the
  40. originator of a message finds he/she has an urgent need to utilize a
  41. tagline, the tagline will only be a short line detailing research
  42. surnames:

  44.             Researching: JONES, GREEN, and CALLAWAY
  45.  
  46. Cutesy taglines add nothing to the value of genealogical research
  47. being conducted by the message originator.... in fact, they detract
  48. greatly from the serious purpose of the message content.

  50. Also, taglines add to the length of messages and therefore add to the
  51. cost of transferring traffic via continental and intercontinental
  52. telephone. Again, you are requested to empathize with those who are
  53. paying the long-distance charges and leave taglines off your messages.

  55. 8.  This conference may not be gated to any other network without the
  56. express consent of the IGA_Net<tm> Zone Coordinator, 440:1/0.

  58. 9.  Messages should be in English if possible, but there are no general
  59. language restrictions.

  61. 10. Remember it costs money for most people to receive this echo.
  62. Please keep message quoting to a minimum by quoting only when necessary
  63. and then only quoting the relevant parts.
